PGL News 2016

Look here every day for the latest news and photos from the Year 6 trip to PGL Osmington Mills.

Thursday 3rd November

It seems amazing that it is Thursday night and we are coming back tomorrow. It has been a very busy day Activities today included; giant swing; archery; raft building; survivor; zip wire low ropes; abseiling and the hike for those children who didn't go on Tuesday.

It may seem that it is the same activities every day but each group does each activity once during the week.

The children have a disco tonight and they have started to pack up for coming home tomorrow.

We still have a morning of activities before lunch. The coach is due to arrive here after lunch to bring us back home. - Get those washing machines ready parents!

Wednesday 2nd November

Well we are now more than half way through the week and today was probably our busiest day yet with lots of activities for the children.

Trapeze which basically involves climbing to the top of a telegraph pole and jumping off - the children are connected to a safety harness. Sensory trail involves the children being blindfolded and then guided around an obstacle course, Abseiling down the flat wall of a large wooden tower. Low ropes team work on an obstacle course off the ground. Raft building, teams build a raft then test it on the lake. Survivor, building shelters and other survival skills.

The photos below are collected from 5 cameras and so the photos may be a bit mixed up. However we hope you enjoy searching for pictures of your children having fun.

Mid-afternoon the whole of Year 6 went down to the beach and looked at the features of the Jurassic Coast, natural and man made. It was a lovely afternoon and it was wonderful to sit on the beach in the afternoon sun in November.

Tonight's activity is Photo Challenge. We will find out a bit more about this later.

Tuesday 1st November

An early start but we all made it to breakfast on time for 7.35.

A really busy day today, half the Year group spent the morning going on a 3 hour hike around the village and hills around Osmington. Highlights included seeing the Osmington White Horse and stopping for an ice cream on a dairy farm.

The rest of the children continued with activities, and all groups joined activities this afternoon.

See below pictures of the hike and children enjoying; archery; low ropes; big swing; abseiling and climbing.

As if you had not seen enough of the children having fun...

Here are a few snaps of Tuesday night's evening activity - Wacky Races.

Monday 31st October

Well, we have all arrived safely and have unpacked our belongings in our cabins.

After a tour of the camp and a time to play, the children enjoyed their dinners; either chicken curry; sausages or vegetable lattice. Not much chance of anyone going hungry!

We also had a birthday cake for a our birthday girl today.

The children are currently spending a few minutes recording the events of today in their jotters. The evening activity today is ‘Splash’ We are not quite sure what this will be, but it may involve water!

Evening activities

Splash started with the teams making up a dance and followed with a quiz based on Halloween clues.

The groups then used the items they had won to barter for materials which they used to build a safety cage to protect a waterbomb,

The wrapped up waterbombs wee then dropped but amazingly most survived!

All in bed now. our breakfast is booked for 7.35 - sadly, not in bed though.
