It is that exciting time of year again where Newlands gets to go reading mad and celebrate ‘Book Week’. As part of our drive to raise standards in writing through a passion for reading, the children will be taking part in a variety of exciting events to develop a pleasure for reading and writing.
Book Week Launch- Monday 27th February- Children will bring home their Book Week voucher.
Famous children’s illustrator Korky Paul will be coming in to school to show the children how he illustrates books, sharing some of his stories and giving them an insight into being an illustrator. This will be on Wednesday 1st March.
This year we would like to invite parents/carers to come into school and ‘Share a story’ with their children.

Yrs 3, 4 & 6 2nd March at 2.55pm
Dressing up Day – On Friday 3rd March we would like your child to dress up as their favourite book character. We are hoping to see lots of imaginative ideas and will be giving prizes to the best costume in each year group.
The week will be a busy one, set to be full of wonderful experiences and opportunities for all the children. Keep your eyes peeled on the school website for lots of photos.
