Yesterday, the children and staff of Newlands school, said a very deep felt 'Goodbye' to Mrs Field. She has supported numerous children (and staff) over the years, first as a TA and more recently as the school's ELSA.
Each class had prepared a special tribute or message for her and this was shared in a special farewell assembly yesterday afternoon.
We all wish Mrs Field every happiness for her future.
Five of our year 5 pupils joined pupils from other Federation Schools for an ICT day held at Shirley Warren School. The pupils were chosen for their computing skills, which they used on the day to write programs for games to be used by schools during next year's Safer Internet Day.
Our children were a credit to our school in their enthusiasm, computing skills and excellent behaviour.
The photos show them working in mixed groups with pupils from the other schools.
Year 5 have been all dressed up and on show today for the premier of their films produced as part of their learning challenge.
The children wrote, directed and acted the films. They then edited them and added their own music that they had composed and performed.
Parents of the children were invited to attend the official previews of these films, some of which are available to view on the Year 5 Class pages of this website.
After months of hard work, Zany Zebra finally revealed his new coat to the children today. The marvellous creation is made up of hundreds of messages about zebras which have been written by the children and staff at Newlands Primary.
Zany now goes off to join the rest of his herd ready for Marwell Zoo to put together their zebra trail through the town centre. The zebras will be revealed on 16th July 2016.
