Maths curriculum

Pupils in Year R follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum to develop a deep understanding of numbers up to 10.  Teachers use the Mastering Number Programme from the NCETM to develop children's numbersense within 10 and their vocabulary to ensure children can talk about their maths and explain what they know.

 

Maths recovery

As part of the ongoing recovery curriculum for Maths we use the Ready to Progress Criteria in year groups 1-6 to ensure children develop knowledge and understanding of the core concepts and connections between them as they progress through each year group.

 

DFE Ready to Progress

The DFE Ready to Progress document identifies the most important areas in mathematics that pupils need as they progress from year 1 to year 6.  These important concepts are referred to as ready-to-progress criteria (RTP). The ready-to-progress criteria (RTP) have been selected in order to develop pupils’ mastery of the primary maths curriculum and, if all criteria are taught and met, pupils will be able to more easily access many other areas of mathematics.
