Pupils from Newlands Primary School have joined with children from schools across Southampton to assemble welcome boxes for refugees.
Southampton City Council is a City of Sanctuary and works with schools and other organisations to support refugees who settle in our city. Families and individuals who have been forced to leave their homes often have nothing at all and these boxes are designed to provide a few essentials to help them through their first few days.
Three of our Global Ambassadors attended today's workshop at John Hansard Gallery. At this event the boxes had items like sugar, milk loo rolls and basic toiletries packed in the boxes that had been decorated by the children.
Newlands is proud to be part of this important work of world citizenship.
