  • Explorer Day in Year 2

    Fri 12 Nov 2021

We have had a very adventurous group of children in Year 2 today as they enjoyed an 'Explorer Day'. It has been lovely to see their costumes and to hear them talk about the different explorers they know about, including Neil Armstrong, Christopher Columbus and Amelia Earhart.

  • Day 4 at Osmington with Year 6

Thu 04 Nov 2021 Mrs Mellor

Believe it or not, the staff had to wake us all up at 7am this morning as we were so sound asleep! For some, it took many knocks on the door!

Following another hot cooked breakfast, we enjoyed an action packed day of climbing, orienteering, survivor, Giant Swing and abseiling.

We have also been exercising our brains in the PGL Quiz Show this evening. Then it's off to bed for our final night's sleep before our last morning of activities tomorrow, before we head home.

We have added some extra photos from yesterday to the Year 6 class pages if you want to see more!

  • Day 3 at Osmington - Year 6 update!

Wed 03 Nov 2021 Mrs Mellor

We are halfway through our week - it is flying by. Today the children have faced survival challenges, aeroball, the dreaded Trapeze climb and leap of faith. We were so impressed by their willingness to have a go.

We spent the afternoon at the beach searching for fossils and exploring the landscape. We have walked miles too!

This evening, it's Wacky Races, which is sure to help us sleep even better tonight.

  • Day 2 at Osmington Bay - more fun with Year 6 on tour!

Tue 02 Nov 2021 Mrs Mellor

Today has been action packed. We have challenged ourselves and pushed ourselves out of our comfort zones with heights, leaps of faith and amazing team work. Here are a small selection of photos to give a flavour of our day...

  • Hello from Year 6 at Osmington Bay!

Tue 02 Nov 2021 Mrs Mellor

    Hello from Osmington Bay!

We arrived safely at our new home for the week. The chalets are warm and comfortable and the views are stunning!

After a tour of the site with our PGL rep, Lizzie, we settled into our rooms and then got to play at Little Wembley. Dinner was great and everyone found something they liked to eat. Our evening entertainment was a campfire where we sang many 'repeat after me' songs, danced and enjoyed some story telling.

Today we have a range of activities and challenges, including abseiling, zip wire, rifle shooting and the sensory trail.

Further updates and photos will be posted later.

  • Tours for New YR Prospective Parents (children starting school in Sept 2022)

Fri 08 Oct 2021 Mrs Mellor

Short tours for prospective YR parents for 2022

We have now set two dates where we will be able to offer short tours of our school and Early Years classes for parents who are thinking about choosing Newlands Primary for their child's school place in YR (September 2022).

    Dates for visits are:

    Wednesday 3rd November

    Wednesday 17th November

15 minute appointments will be offered between 9.30 and 11am with parents in a maximum of two families at a time (wearing face coverings).

Visits MUST be booked in advance by phoning the school office 023 8077 3363 or by emailing info@newlandsprimary.co.uk

Please arrive promptly at your alloted time and sign in at the main office. You will need to wear a face covering for this visit.

A member of the EYFS team will meet you and take you on the external route to EYFS and into the garden area to view the classrooms/outdoor area in action and look into door ways to the classes to find out a snap shot of life in YR.

(Sadly you will not be able to come into the rest of the building due to ongoing COVID safety measures) but you will get to see the building and grounds.

The visit will give you a flavour of the school. Alongside this, we have a virtual tour on the website too -  https://www.newlandsprimary.co.uk/a-virtual-tour-of-newlands-primary-school/

We look forward to welcoming you to our school.
