Our School Council have decided to fund raise this year for "Jake's Mission" - a local charity which supports a little boy with Cerebral Palsy and severe visual impairment. They will keep you updated when they organise events.
Anti-bullying week will be taking place across the school from 17th to 21st November. The theme for this year is ‘Let’s stop bullying for all’. We are inviting parents to a special event on:
Friday 21st November at 2.30pm
Children will be taking part in a range of exciting activities across the week and will be looking forward to showing off their work and telling us all about the ways in which we challenge bullying behaviour at our school.
What can parents/carers do should they feel worried about bullying at school?
In the first instance please always talk to the child’s teacher. They will be able to discuss worries with parents and find out more about the situation. If parents still feel worried then they can arrange a meeting with a member of the Senior Leadership Team via the school office.
At Newlands we do not tolerate bullying and do all we can to prevent it. Our Anti-Bullying week activities will make this clear to our children and help them understand what they can do to help stop bullying for all.
During Anti-bullying week there will be an opportunity for children to buy a ‘Beat Bullying Band’ for a small donation to wear at school and show their support for stopping bullying for all children.

Children in Year 6 have been busy designing and building prototype models of gadgets suitable for the young spy.
On Wednesday 22 October they had the chance to present their ideas to the 'Dragons'.
There were a range of products that were offered and the Dragons were impressed by the designs and the way that the children sold their ideas.
On Wednesday 15th October the whole of year 3 (almost 60 pupils) jumped in the minibuses and headed to Southampton Outdoor Sports Centre. We joined several other schools to be part of the Southampton Solent run GO Run for FUN event.
We were greeted by large pink flags, music pumping and the sight of pink t-shirts everywhere. The pupils quickly put on their very own pink t-shirt they got to keep and joined in with the very energetic and fun warm up.
It was then time to Run the 1 mile long cross country course. Mr Harris, Miss Smith and Miss McCollin also joined in. The pupils definitely had fun, although they ended up sweaty, tired and slightly muddy.
We all agree RUNNING IS FUN!!!!!
I am delighted to announce that following our Full Section 5 Inspection from Ofsted on 1-2nd October 2014, Newlands is now a securely “good” school with “outstanding” Leadership, Safety and Early Years Foundation Stage (Year R).
Since I started at the school in January 2013, I can honestly say it has been a pleasure working with such amazing children and a dedicated team of staff. During this time, the school has embraced its fantastic new building and site and an ever increasing number of parents are playing an active role in their children’s learning. This partnership working is ensuring the school goes from strength to strength and that the children are getting fantastic opportunities to support their learning.
Please take the time to read the full report by clicking the link in the "Our School" section of our website. This report will become “live” on the Ofsted website next Thursday for the whole world to see!
We are very proud of our journey in such a short space of time and I hope that when you read the report, you will be a proud as we are of Newlands Primary!
Thanks you for your on-going support.
