  We had an excellent Book Week in school last week. Every one enjoyed the fun!

  

• SAM and ODO visit!

  We had very special visitors to assembly today to remind us that School Attendance Matters! SAM and ODO the dogs came to see the whole school and to share their thoughts on taking odd days off from school. Odd days off really affect a child's education and learning. The children agreed to try to avoid odd days off from school.

• RCS Boys Football Trophy

  CHAMPIONS

   

  For the third year in a row Newlands Primary School have won the Redbridge Community School (RCS) Boys football Trophy. We took 2 teams to the competition and managed to finish 1st and 3rd, beating teams from Redbridge primary and Mason Moor along the way.

   

  The Players all did extremely well and were excellent ambassadors for Newlands.

   

• Family Learning Workshops

  We have been delighted with the turn out for our recent family learning workshops! The workshops have been designed after requests from parents for ideas on how to help children at home. Thank you for your feedback and for supporting your children.

   

  
   

  

• School Council organise an assembly visitor!

  The whole school had a special visitor for assembly yesterday. The School Council had organised for Jake to visit us all. Jake is the little boy who we are trying to help by supporting the 'Jake's Mission' charity.

  

• Fundraising update from the School Council

  So far we have raised almost £500 for "Jake's Mission" from our School Disco and Teddy raffle! Well done everyone.

  We are hoping that Jake will be able to visit us soon.

• Key Stage 2 Nativity

• School Council Charity Support

  Our School Council have decided to fund raise this year for "Jake's Mission" - a local charity which supports a little boy with Cerebral Palsy and severe visual impairment. They will keep you updated when they organise events.

• Anti-bullying Week

  Anti-bullying week will be taking place across the school from 17^th to 21^st November.  The theme for this year is ‘Let’s stop bullying for all’.  We are inviting parents to a special event on:

   Friday 21^st November at 2.30pm

  Children will be taking part in a range of exciting activities across the week and will be looking forward to showing off their work and telling us all about the ways in which we challenge bullying behaviour at our school.

  What can parents/carers do should they feel worried about bullying at school?

  In the first instance please always talk to the child’s teacher.  They will be able to discuss worries with parents and find out more about the situation.  If parents still feel worried then they can arrange a meeting with a member of the Senior Leadership Team via the school office.

  At Newlands we do not tolerate bullying and do all we can to prevent it.  Our Anti-Bullying week activities will make this clear to our children and help them understand what they can do to help stop bullying for all. 

  During Anti-bullying week there will be an opportunity for children to buy a ‘Beat Bullying Band’ for a small donation to wear at school and show their support for stopping bullying for all children.
