  Newsletter 2 - October 2025

• Year 6 @ PGL Osmington Bay

  Year 6 have arrived safely at PGL, Osmington Bay, for their residential adventure this week. The children have settled into their chalets and are busy trying to earn chalet points by showing great manners, tidiness and giving all activities their best shot.

  We had campfire last night and learned some new 'repeat after me' songs that we have been repeating since! Everyone slept well and ate a big breakfast this morning.

  Today we have our first set of challenges with problem solving, climbing, archery and abseiling. The morning started with a big rainbow so we are hopeful for a drier day!

  We will post more photos this evening and these will be on the Y6 Class pages.

• Open Morning for Year R 2026 Tours

  Do you have a child due to start YR in Sept 2026?

  Children born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022 are able to start school in the school year beginning September 2026 Applications for school places for September 2026 opened on Monday 1st September 2025 and will close on 15th January 2026.

   

  We are holding Open Mornings for prospective Year R parents to come and see the school in action, to visit our Year R classrooms and meet key staff who will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

• Schools of Sanctuary Update

  Newlands Primary is aware that some inaccurate and misleading information about our School of Sanctuary status has been shared online, including suggestions about activities we have never taken part in.
  
  To be clear, our school has never participated in the activity described. These claims are untrue and do not reflect who we are as a school community.
  
  Newlands Primary is proud to be a place where every child and family is welcomed and respected, regardless of background. We believe in treating everyone with kindness and fairness, and we expect our whole community to uphold these values.
  
  Being recognised as a School of Sanctuary means we are dedicated to making sure every child and family feels safe, supported, and able to thrive. Safeguarding is, and always will be, our highest priority.
  
  The programme is not political — it is about understanding, compassion, and building a community where everyone belongs.
